A Thing Called Spring

As well as we know Lucky, it's sometimes strange remembering that we haven't yet had him for a full year.  As such, we are, delightfully, still experiencing firsts.  And our first spring together is off to a grand start.
His previous home was a very different place to the city, and the smells here are new smells for Lucky.  He's been having a great time on all of his usual favourite walks, and we can see that he's both confused and intrigued that his hang-outs all suddenly smell and look so different.

Last week, Scot was enjoying the last bit of a tub of Haagen Dazs chocolate ice cream, with Lucky on the couch next to him.  He finished, and went through to the other room, leaving the almost empty carton on the side, well within Lucky's reach.  A few moments later, Lucky appeared next door holding the carton in his mouth and wagging his tail, but he hadn't cleaned it out, which he easily could have.  He was asking permission.
Had this been any other flavour, he would have been given it.  What a shame!

The Chairman Of The Bored

Stuck at work with me today, wishing he was away playing with his pals.

Four's Company

My nephew, Tim, came for a visit last weekend from New York.  We've looked forward to this visit for a long time, and even though Lucky was giving up 'his' couch for Tim, we knew they would get along well.  For Lucky, this was just another fun person to love.

Lot's of fun activities were scheduled, and we included Lucky in most of them.  The big weekend walk was at Tyninghame, our favourite spot.

Very early on Sunday morning, the taxi came to take Tim to Edinburgh Airport.  I said goodbye, and headed back to bed.  Usually, Lucky would be keen to join us, and he'd be allowed.  But he seemed contented on his bed, so I left him.  Later, when I rose, I saw why he had decided to stay in the living room.

He had stolen my nephew's bed!  Typical Ridgeback- all about the comfort!

A Lucky Encounter

It's been a lovely weekend.  Spring is definitely in the air in Edinburgh, and we're happy about that. Additionally, Lucky's ear is healing beautifully, which is a relief.
Yesterday, we were on our usual morning stroll up and around Calton Hill.  It was busier than usual with lots of tourists happily enjoying the views.  At one point, I called out to Lucky, and a gentleman said to me 'Lucky?  His name is Lucky?'  When I said yes, he exclaimed 'My name is Lucky!'  What are the chances?

Lucky & Lucky

Later, we drove out to Tyninghame with friends for a good long walk along the coast.  This is definately Lucky's favourite walk, and ours.  The sun was shining but it was chilly; a great combination.  Very much our kind of day!
